The Choral Taste of Los Angeles began as a way of introducing the artists writing choral music in Los Angeles to the people who sing choral music. Los Angeles has one of the deepest and richest talent pools in the world, and the Choral Taste was founded to bring this talent into the light.
Each year, about 10 composers are invited to participate. They each are given a 20-30 minute time slot and are encouraged to bring their best material to present, as well as talk about their music and what caused it to come into being.
A gourmet lunch is provided by one of LA's best caterers, Taste is Everything, and is included of the price of the day, as is all the music that will be presented. Lunch is also a great opportunity to meet the composers and get to know them.
In 2009, the Choral Taste will be held on January 24, 2009 from 9:30am - 3:30pm at Westwood United Methodist Church (10497 Wilshire Blvd., Westwood). Call Jim Raycroft at (818) 367-1939 for details and to register.
